Short Bio

I am an amateur photographer living in Chapel Hill, North Carolina with a love for the visual arts. I am equally torn between film and digital images and strive to capture a moment that tells a story.

Statement

I am a photographer interested in composing and capturing memories. Composition, natural light and spontaneity are some of the key ingredients I look for. I want the image to tell a deeper story while freezing that ephemeral moment that will otherwise be lost. Shooting wildlife photography daily for a year was very educational and taught me many lessons applicable to almost every other category of photography. I have been hired to shoot portraits and commercial work though this is not my day job. I am driven by curiosity and an unending quest to capture the decisive moment. My core areas of interest are portraits, wildlife and anything in motion. I am torn equally between film and the color and speed of digital. I have a collection of vintage cameras that include 35mm through large format and all see action. I develop my black and white film at home and print some of the images in my darkroom. My digital world allows me to capture motion and color, opening many additional doors and windows.
